Building the Ultimate Online Gym for Over 55s
Zumba Joins the Jim’s Gym Timetable This March
Jim’s Gym continues to grow, and from Monday, 9th March at 4 pm, I’m super excited to share that Zumba will officially become part of the weekly schedule.
As the community has expanded, so has the range of preferences within it. Some members enjoy strength training. Others prefer Tai Chi or Pilates. Some enjoy the calm of Yoga. And some want to put music on and move.
The point is, there is no ‘best’ movement; Jim’s Gym is about offering something that fits all members’ exercise preferences to help them enjoy and stay consistent with exercise.
Zumba gives people another brilliant way to stay active from home.
Why It Makes Sense
Movement is far easier to stick with when it feels enjoyable.
Zumba brings rhythm, energy and a sense of lightness. It’s structured enough to feel purposeful, but relaxed enough that you don’t need to worry about getting everything right. The aim isn’t performance, it’s participation.
The class will be led by Rowena Wakefield, an experienced instructor who began teaching during lockdown and has since built a strong following across Cirencester, Cricklade and surrounding villages. Her sessions are welcoming and supportive, which makes her a great fit for the Jim’s Gym community.
The class will run live on Zoom every Monday at 4 pm and is included within the standard membership.

Designed to help you ‘do more’!
Jim’s Gym was built for people over 55 who prefer to exercise at home rather than in a traditional gym. Creating exercise experiences that will have real-world benefits beyond the classes.
Many members are in their 60s and 70s and want something flexible, accessible and ultimately something that is . Staying active isn’t about chasing extremes. It’s about maintaining strength, mobility and energy in a way that fits around family life, travel plans and everything else that comes with later life.
Convenience matters.
Being able to log in from home matters.
Having different styles of movement to choose from matters.
For £12.99 per month, members receive:
More than 15 live online classes each week
Strength training, Tai Chi, Pilates, Yoga, Dancercise and now Zumba
Over 500 on-demand workouts
A supportive WhatsApp community
Healthy Habits Club, Book Club and Craft sessions
A monthly nutrition talk with a registered dietitian
The Fitness MOT to help track progress
Everything is accessible from home. No travel, no complicated equipment and no long contracts.
As new classes are added, the value increases. More importantly, the chance of finding something you genuinely enjoy increases, too.
And enjoyment is what keeps people consistent.
Something for Every Preference
Not everyone wants the same type of exercise. And that’s cool.
Some prefer slower, controlled movement.
Some enjoy lifting weights and building strength.
Some want to improve balance and coordination.
Others prefer music and movement that lifts the mood as much as the heart rate.
Having that choice within one online membership means people can build a routine that actually suits them, rather than forcing themselves into something that doesn’t.
Zumba simply adds another option.
Beyond the Exercise
Jim’s Gym has never been just a timetable of workouts. Alongside the exercise classes, there are weekly and monthly clubs designed to keep the mind engaged as well as the body.
The Book Club meets monthly and gives members a shared focus beyond exercise. It creates conversation, connection and something to look forward to. The Art Club offers a chance to try something creative in a relaxed setting, guided but informal. The Craft Club brings people together to make something practical with their hands, often sparking more laughter than expected.
There is also the Healthy Habits Club, which includes a monthly nutrition session led by a registered dietitian. These sessions aren’t about rigid rules or dramatic overhauls. They’re about practical, realistic guidance that fits into everyday life, understanding food, energy, habits and long-term wellbeing.
What’s interesting is how often members say the social side matters just as much as the physical side. Logging in for a class is one thing. Seeing familiar faces each week, chatting in the WhatsApp groups, and sharing progress or challenges make it something people actually stick with.
Exercise may be the starting point, but the community is what keeps it sustainable.
And as the timetable grows, so does that sense of belonging.
If you’ve been considering joining, this is a good moment. The timetable is broader than ever, and the community continues to grow in ways that reflect what members genuinely want.
Zumba begins Monday, 9th March at 4 pm.
